María José Argenzio. Aglomeraciones

Aglomeraciones [Agglomerations], a site-specific piece by artist María José Argenzio (Guayaquil, Ecuador, 1977), intends to intervene the architectural qualities of the Museum through an exercise of coexistence. She does this through a cube produced with moldings made from expanded polystyrene –normally used for decorative purposes ed by an aluminum frame. The artist proposes a reflection on the relationship between form and function in architecture, as well as on the ideas of the container and of the Museum’s white cube. The lack of function turns this white cube into a strange object in two senses: in its material qualities, as far as its components oppose the Museum's minimalist architecture, and in its placement in a high traffic area.

South Outdoors is a project in collaboration between Museo Amparo and Museo Universitario Arte Contemporáneo, UNAM that aims to generate a platform of visibility and inclusion for emergent cultural production, as well as provoke new flows of exchange between local and peripheral scenes. To this end, young artists from different regions of Mexico and abroad are invited to carry out site-specific projects on patios, in hallways, or on balconies of participating institutions, over the course of 2015-2016.
