On the polished brick-colored surface are traces of a white and red coating. Due to the proportionally large size of the head, and its forward posture with a slight inclination, the focus is on the face. With a subtle modeling, a continuous line is marked that corresponds to the eyebrows and reinforces the gaze of the almond eyes. The nose is delicately modeled and the nostrils indicated with incisions.
The half-open mouth and thick lips with the corners downwards as well as the lotus flower posture with the hands on the knees give the subject represented the characteristic expression of the Olmec style art, in which the Valley of Mexico and surrounding areas fully participated.
Although the back of the figure is highly schematic, it retains some two-dimensionality due the tension of the head leaning forward. The modeling of the body focuses on the strength of the muscles of the chest and shoulders, which could be an indication that it is a male figure. The navel and the fingers and toes are detailed with incisions. Some details seem to allude to the differences that existed in this already complex society at the dawn of Mesoamerican civilization.
The skull is scraped, the half-open mouth reveals white-painted teeth and the head shows a very pronounced erect tabular type deformation. This deformation could actually be one in which not only the front and occipital parts are flattened, but that with a horizontal band the head was shaped to mark a division into two lobes, the upper one protruding a little from the lower one. Skulls modulated in this way and their artistic representations have been found in various parts of the former Olmec ecumene. It could therefore be a reference to an individual belonging to a group that enjoyed certain privileges, judging by the wealth of the burial offerings with which this type of figurine is usually associated.
