A shallow piece, with almost parallel sides and slightly rounded front. Consisting of sixteen concave segments, its back is raised to be collected in two opposing scrolls that surround a central segment. Both its shape, which leans toward rectangular, and the type of handle are similar to an existing baptismal font at the National Viceroyalty Museum (Tepotzotlan).

The solution of the double scroll of the hinge is also comparable to that of another New Spain example of unknown origin in a private collection dating back to 1761.[1]

The absence, in both cases, of marks or inscriptions to guide us prevent us from more accurately determining its chronology and place of origin.
