This chest of drawers is strange because its two upper drawers, which are decorated with phytomorphic reliefs on top, and the plank doors in the bottom part, have a reminiscence of the mannerism; it is a neocolonial work, possibly made in Mexico during the nineteen forties. This piece responds to the Hispanic tastes that arose in reply to nationalist ideology. Curiously, the reliefs include carved cabochons around where the keyholes are located. The hinges are modern. The side handles include gold plated parts which are likely to be old fittings from another piece of furniture. The lower part features figures of lions arranged around a bevel that s this massive piece of furniture. The nobs of the drawers are made of forged iron.
