Gallery 2. Renewal

The atavistic notion of renewal represented in the Pre-Columbian cult of Xipe Tótec, “the flayed one,” persists in the consciousness of the Anthropocene, which demands urgent action to reverse the impact of human activity over the Earth’s diverse ecosystems. Death, restitution, and time recording comprise an essential framework for the understanding of events in their geologic, social, and personal scale.

The transient condition of the human and nature coexist no only through time but also in space, hosting diverse dynamics that disrupt both their physical and symbolic condition. Whether it being for the delimitation of territories, the development of exploitation and extraction schemes, or the activation of migratory routes in search of shelter; or derived from the occurrence of nature forces that either determine or reconfigure the shaping of identities and the creation of myths.
